Kemi (Northern Finland) is famous for the work of art that is made every year-the Snow Castle. Every winter, the Snow Castle offers wonderful experiences for both children and adults alike. Great light-effects will add to the charm of the snow and ice sculpting, as well as to the structures about the Snow Castle. The local constructors have begun to build the 2011 castle on 3d December and it is opened from 29 January to 8 April. This year’s theme is “Comics”.
The Snow Hotel offers 20 rooms (single/double/group) and a Honeymoon Suite. All is made of snow, including the furniture. The fresh, about -5 degrees Celsius breathing-air, will guarantee you sweet dreams inside a well-equipped sleeping-bag on a good bed. You will have a memorable sleeping-experience in the Snow Hotel. After a good sleep, the breakfast is served in the warm Castle Lounge.
The Snow Restaurant is opened from 30th December. You can enjoy hot or cold drinks at the Ice Bar, or have an unique dinner at an ice table, serving reindeer soup, lappish potatoes, or loganberries. The food is served in foil to keep them warm and the ice seats are covered with reindeer fur.
The Snow Castle has also an ecumenical chapel-a place where visitors can quite their mind and calm down.
